Meet Joseph E. Roesch

Joseph E. Roesch is a retired English professor who lives in Hamilton, NY, with
his wife, Linda. He holds a doctorate in Medieval English Literature from The
University of Wisconsin (Madison) and has taught at The University of Wisconsin,
Syracuse University and Onondaga Community College (The State University Of New
York). Boudica, Queen Of The Iceni, his first novel, draws upon a
lifelong interest in history, language, literature and myth.
Roesch says that his choice of heroine was by no means random, for he first
encountered Boudica in college, while reading an account of her rebellion in the
Annals of the Roman historian Tacitus. The story of her
extraordinary courage in the face of overwhelming odds stayed with him through
the years. When he retired from teaching and decided to try his hand at novel
writing, historical fiction was the logical choice for him, given his background
in medieval studies. When he cast about for a specific subject, he realized
that she had been waiting in the wings for too long. Now it was time to give
her center stage. |
